Fire Protection Engineer
Description
This is a permanent position with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineering & Support Center, Huntsville, Directorate of Engineering, Mechanical-Electrical Division.
Serve as the agency's technical authority on Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, and Life Safety (FPP) engineer.
Provide expert advice on the interpretation and implementation of Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, and Life Safety (FPP) policy directives and programs.
Establish and implement Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, and Life Safety (FPP) engineering regulations, criteria, and standards.
Possess knowledge of DoD, US, and foreign Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, and Life Safety (FPP) codes, regulations, criteria, standards, and policies.
Review and approve fire prevention, protection, and detection designs, scopes of work, performance work statements, studies, and analyses prepared by in-house personnel or Architect-Engineer (A-E) firms for technical accuracy.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to agency programs regarding Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, and Life Safety (FPP) engineering design, information, data, and problems.
Serve as senior engineer team leader during site visits for the purpose of making surveys and/or providing consultative services concerning FPP engineering.
Provide direction and coordination to support the efforts of architects, site, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers to produce comprehensive fire prevention and protection documents.
Develop contract documentation in the preparation of design studies, scopes of work, performance work statements, assessments, contract drawings, etc., for the agency.
Coaches less experienced engineers through design, review, construction and operation and maintenance activities involved in fire protection activities.

This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
This position may require travel (TDY) up to 30% of the time.
Incumbent must be a registered Professional Engineer with a current license - IAW CEHNCR 690-1-47. License must be maintained, and the required type of registration must be Fire Protection Engineer.
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
Incumbent must possess a driver's license.
This position may require heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
