TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN
The City of Twin Falls is seeking a Traffic Technician to help maintain, operate, and improve traffic signal and transportation systems throughout our community.
This position works with traffic signals, detection systems, street lighting, traffic studies, traffic control plans, and other transportation infrastructure. You’ll troubleshoot and maintain electrical and computerized traffic systems, analyze traffic conditions, and help identify improvements that support safe and efficient travel throughout the City.
We are looking for someone who is technically skilled, safety-minded, dependable, and able to troubleshoot electrical and traffic control systems. We are especially interested in a licensed Journeyman Electrician, or someone who has the ability to obtain Journeyman Electrician licensure within six (6) months of hire.

What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, monitor, maintain, update, and repair City traffic signal systems
- Work with traffic control panels, beacons, emergency preemption systems, video, radar, and other detection equipment
- Perform traffic controller maintenance, programming, and signal timing
- Maintain and program school beacons and speed-reduction systems
- Assist with the design and review of streets, roads, driveways, and traffic control plans
- Conduct traffic counts, speed studies, parking studies, and other traffic research
- Analyze traffic data and recommend improvements
- Assist with traffic signal upgrades and other transportation projects
- Plan and coordinate street lighting installations
- Work with contractors, developers, law enforcement, transportation agencies, and the public on traffic-related issues
Pay & Benefits
- $28.49 – $34.19 per hour ($59,259 - $71,115 annually), depending on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician, or the ability to obtain Journeyman Electrician licensure within six (6) months of hire
- Valid driver’s license
Work Environment
This position includes both office and field work. Field work may include active roadways, intersections, electrical equipment, construction areas, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
