Position Overview
We are looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to design, evaluate, and optimize fire protection systems while supporting our product development initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly impact the safety and effectiveness of our solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze fire protection systems, including detection, suppression, and alarm systems
Conduct fire risk assessments and provide engineering recommendations for various applications
Support product development by applying fire protection engineering principles to new technologies
Review and interpret fire codes, standards, and regulations (NFPA, IBC, local codes)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, and sales teams
Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and engineering reports
Provide technical support to customers and assist with system installations and commissioning
Stay current with industry trends, codes, and emerging fire protection technologies
Participate in testing and validation of fire detection and protection systems
Required Qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering discipline
2+ years of experience in fire protection engineering (or recent graduates with strong internship experience)
Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, particularly NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and NFPA 101 NICET
Understanding of fire detection technologies and suppression systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency with engineering software and technical documentation
A willingness to travel within North America
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with fire detection systems in commercial, industrial, or agricultural environments
Familiarity with emerging technologies in fire safety and prevention
Experience working in a startup or small company environment

This is a full time, in office position. Monday - Friday at our Farmington Hills, MI location.
